Decisions?

October 10th, 2008 by Weco

If one world was green and another was blue,
Which “one world” would you choose?
A table of spoons and an orbiting moon
Months ‘til summer, it’s mid afternoon

The time has beckoned for me to decide
Roads to my left and roads to my right
Some are no entry and some are one way
But what’s this I see, a small alley way

Purple!

October 3rd, 2008 by Weco

What is purple?

The blog i write today on purple came about after an argument with a colleague (slight use of hyperbole) that purple was the ‘in’ colour for this Autumn/Winter, he did not agree!

When you get bored of all the options that you have in your wardrobe and want to add some interesting yet smart tints, purple may be a color worth considering. Many people are choosing to adopt the unaccustomed purple because it makes an elegant and strong fashion statement.

The trick, however, is in the manner you choose the other accessories and how you combine your purple with other colors depending on the shade of purple you decide to wear. Other bright colors are a big nooo with purple. Pinks, oranges and red are colours which you should not even be giving a single look at whilst deciding to wear something purple.

If you are in the mood to wear a bright shade of purple, then you should consider dark accessories

Dark purple, on the other hand, should be contrasted with light neutral colors like beige and cream.

Red+Blue=Purple! ( in differentproportions)Did you know?? The symbolic meaning behind the colour purpl is penitence and mourningDuring the Elizabethan era purple represented royality, reality and nobility, (so lets all wear purple!)

Presents for all

September 16th, 2008 by Weco

Birthdays are a joyful occasion we all celebrate, eat cake, get all our friends and family around but best of all we get presents! What if I told you there’s a tradition which does slightly the opposite? Instead of receiving present on your birthday, you give them out.

I want to do exactly that this year. My Birthday is approaching and this Sunday I will have one more year of experience compared to the last. I want to thank those who gave me those experiences and support me whenever I need it.

In the Indian culture you always give others a gift on a special occasion. This is to thank them for celebrating the occasion with you.

I want to celebrate my years so far with those who wish to celebrate it with me by giving them a gift. Everybody reading this blog probably wants to be my friend now. I’m sure immediately the thought of getting brand new cars or clothes came in everybody’s mind. I want to give something a bit more useful.

I asked everybody in the office to think of one thing they would like to change personally, professionally and mentally. The reasons being positive change in those 3 fields will be more valuable to people than material goods.

So I ask the same of those reading this post.

Think of something you can change for the positive, in one week, in the following areas.

Personally

Professionally/Academically

Mentality

Now think about how you can change it within a week, or at least begin to change

It doesn’t have to be a physical change, a shift in thinking can be just as valuable.

I hope you all like your present and will begin to think of others on your special occasions.

Sky Dive

September 2nd, 2008 by Weco

Something to think about:

If something ever seems impossible. Put in an apostrophe and space so it becomes I’m possible

Now let me introduce myself, my name is Ravi Agravat and I’ve just finished college and now I’m doing a year internship here at Wecomeone. It’s been around 7 weeks since I’ve been here and it feels like the clock has magical wings because time has just flown by. I don’t know where it’s all gone but I guess it’s true what they say that time flies when you’re having fun (and working very hard too)

But since I’ve been here, I’ve had the opportunity to jump out of plane 15,000ft high, and trust me its high, and if ever the clouds are under your feet, I’m telling you now something isn’t right! You see my initial thought was to ‘fly like superman’ but then once the door opened and my legs were dangling outside of the plane, my thoughts were then ‘please don’t fly into the engine, please’

Next thing you know the sound of the wind was immense! It’s like unwinding the window while you’re on the motorway and then sticking your head out and looking like a demented child! It’s Crazy!

But yeah I have to thank the wind! It probably cleaned out every minute particle of earwax that ever lived in my ear, along with the spiders and antelopes and deer’s and sea weed and a bit of grass! Amazing, probably the most expensive ear cleaning service out there but I can say with guaranteed assurance that it works perfectly! Fantastic, I’d just like to thank the Open Dreams Team for organising a day to remember.

Don't the clouds look like cotton wool?

You see I thought it was impossible for me to jump out of a plane but I did it. And so can you. I would like to know what you think is impossible and see if you can turn it in to I’m possible…

8 Months

August 20th, 2008 by Mickey

Let me start this blog by wishing Bhav a very happy birthday. Getting old now but still young at heart!

I’m into my eighth month of employment at Wecomeone, I say employment but most of the time it doesn’t feel like work. Take today for example, I get to the office and the first thing we do is have breakfast together whilst listening to peaceful music (Tantric Sensuality) for the first hour.

I make it sound like I do no work (Zima would agree with me on that) but the truth is completely different. Here at Wecomeone we use a “work hard play hard” policy, so we do all the fun and relaxing activities, but when we work – we work hard!

When I first started I thought it would be a breeze but my first six months were more like gail force winds. The business world is completely different to what I expected. My communication skills were a little scratchy; my organisational skills were as good as building instructions for an IKEA cupboard, punctuality is something we won’t mention and the long hours are nothing compared to 4/5 hours of lectures a day. Coming from education life to work life was a shock!

I remember when I used to stroll through school and college giving below 70% effort and still remain in the top sets and get top marks. I was average in the sense that I would be late, do homework if I could be bothered, skive when I felt like it (you know you’ve all done it).

I’m lucky I’m at Wecomeone because I received a lot of support, at any other business I would have been out the door before I made my groove in my chair. I’m getting used to it now and I’m enjoying it more than ever but I know one thing for sure education never prepared me for this.

We now have two new interns for this year (Rashyl and Ravi), and I’m sure they’ll also have the same feelings and experiences I’ve had. Actually I think they’ll be a lot of people who have shared my experience or will do, my advice to the latter would be get involved in voluntary projects as soon as possible. Your rewards won’t be money, they’ll be far greater. You’ll have the skills and qualities which employers look for but education doesn’t offer!

Every Day Gets Better

June 2nd, 2008 by Weco

Say this little rhyme to yourself three times, three times a day, while looking in a mirror is best.

Every day, and in every way, I am getting better and better.

- Emile Coue (1857-1926)

Coue wrote this sometime around the 1900s. I have to say that even at Wecomeone we must strive to become better by the day. Try it for yourself. It’ll definately put you in a good mood.
